PokerStars Announce $60 Million in Guarantees for Upcoming Events

This year has been a record-breaker for online poker, and PokerStars closes the year out with a tremendous tournament series with massive guarantees. The PokerStars Blowout Series, running from December 27, 2020, through January 19, 2021, features an astounding amount of play, 268 tournaments to be exact. Moreover, the online poker room has promised $60 million in guaranteed prize pools throughout the entire series.

One-third of that total, or $20 million, is concentrated in four events dubbed the Big Blowout tournaments. Each of these exciting events takes place on a Sunday, with a $5 million guaranteed prize pool. The buy-ins and schedule for the Big Blowout tournaments are:

  • $109 buy-in, December 27, 2020
  • $215 buy-in, January 3, 2021
  • $530 buy-in, January 10, 2021
  • $1,050 buy-in, January 17, 2021

You can find the complete PokerStars Big Blowout Schedule here.

“It’s been a unique year so we’ve created a unique tournament series to celebrate our love and our players’ love for poker,” said Severin Rasset, Managing Director and Commercial Officer of Poker at PokerStars. “We have a wide variety of buy-ins for our Big Blowout Sunday events with $5 million guaranteed. That gives all players in the PokerStars community the opportunity to play in these unique events. We also have our New Year’s Bash kicking off on January 1st and we hope to see many of our players come together to bring in 2021.”

The buy-in for the New Year’s Bash was just $11, with an incredibly generous $2 million guarantee.

PokerStars 3-Tier Tourneys

Most of the events feature three-tiered buy-in structures, low, medium, and high, the same as most PokerStars tournament series. That rounds up to 88 events, for three tourneys each.

Also, which is usually the case for the big PokerStars events, there are a lot of different ways to qualify for the tourneys. For example, from December 27 to January 16, the Blowout Ticket Machine will issue $2 million in tournament tickets. However, players must do an “opt-in” challenge to be eligible, and also play in a Blowout Series event to enter a daily drawing.

Spin & Go

There are also special Spin & Go’s giving players the chance to win a seat at the Big Blowout tournament events. Spin & Go is a unique combination of poker and slots; there are just three players per Spin & Go tournament with a buy-in between $1 and $100. The play lasts just 7 minutes per tourney, and the winner takes all.

The Spin & Go’s for the Blowout Series cost $4 and $22 and run through January 17.

The top prize is awarded to a $1,050 buy-in Big Blowout. However, the prize can only be awarded once, and any wins thereafter will be awarded in tournament dollars. The $22, $55, $109, $215 and $530 tickets for the Blowout Series can be used to enter any satellite or event. Any unused tickets will be turned into regular tournament dollars after the Blowout Series ends.
